A foreword for a record? Well, why not? After all it is my very first album as a solo artist and it contains a continual story too! Everything in these recordings was done only by me; the compositions, the playing … I even built some of the gear I used. As much as I could give of love and effort went into the construction and detail of this work. Though I still struggle at times with bits and pieces of this record I am reminded of the famous words quoted by Nam June Paik “When too perfect, lieber Gott böse!” Aaaah! Now the work is done and with it I am happy and content.
The album reflects my appreciation of and exposure to different musical styles that I have crossed paths with throughout the years. Music which I have both grown up hearing and discovered has been dismantled, atomized, analyzed, inhaled, and now exhaled by me in a new and different way – My Way.
So here it is, my little story for your reading (and eventually listening) pleasure:
Maria is a pure musician with passion. Everything in her life is about music, so much that without it life would have no meaning. In order to gain an audience she leaves no stone unturned doing what ever it takes. Following this manner she decides to take part in a competitive TV show for musicians to display their talents. She ends up becoming the winner, but loses the game in the end for the real content of the show was only the show itself and had nothing to do with authentic music. Maria eventually gains Insight into this truth and realizes that not in her wildest dreams could she have ever imagined her creative power to have almost been lost and her soul to have almost been sold.
There are so many ideas that I have for future work and lots of little stories that desperately need to be told in an audible way.
